THERE THERE NOW – Night 01
November 30, 2017 @ 7:00 pm - 11:30 pm£5
“THE HOTTEST NEW MUSIC THIS SIDE OF THE TRAFFORD CENTRE”
THERE THERE NOW is a celebration of brand new music in Manchester. A residency of sorts, it will mix bands & DJs alongside art & visuals, and exhibit the outcome in the middle of the city. Not a gig, a club night nor an exhibition; Night 01 will take place within the walls of AATMA.
parade are a Manchester based alt-pop group, the name coming from an Arthur Rimbaud poem in which the closing line reads “I alone hold the key to this savage parade”. A packed out headline gig at soup kitchen followed a cameo alongside Sun Kil Moon at RNCM; the Skinny describing the scene as “part Eyes Wide Shut orgy, part masquerade ball”.
Formed in the shadows of Salford’s infamous Stangeways Prison, KYŌGEN are a Manchester-based electronic dream pop duo. Their music blends lush, built up layers of vocals & guitar over the top of ethereal, melancholic melodies. Having toured the UK in support of Pins, the pair will be filling AATMA with their contemporary electronic bliss.
Rising from the ashes of post-punk group Hartheim comes SOFIAHH, a collective with their eyes set firmly on oblivion. Sonically there are similarities with their former guise – gravelly vocals that flit between Interpol and Ian Curtis, serpentine strands of guitar – yet this time the tar-drenched layers of electronica move to the fore.
Monk are an Electronic duo based in Salford. The group explore the mechanical circumstances of the world; engines and turbines obtrusive amongst the sky and ground. There are images of electricity and fire, glowing red within the fragmented bustling of bass-heavy percussion. The doors finally open. It is morning.
DJ’s & DANCING WILL FOLLOW UNTIL LATE.
